A co-worker brought me a log that he'd cut off of one of his trees. The next day I showed up at work with this. I didn't know what kind of tree it was at first, but after a bit of research, it became obvious that the log was from an Osage Orange tree. This bowl is about 6.25 inches in diameter and about 3 inches tall. I cut the log a bit too short, therefore two of the sides of the bowl are flat. Technically, it was a mistake, but in retrospect, I think it looks better this way! The Osage Orange tree is not actually an orange. It is also called a Hedge Apple tree....and it's not actually an apple either, go figure!
